When my wife turned 22 weeks pregnant we headed off for our second scan. We already had two children at home, so none of this was new to us, but nevertheless we were excited! Because we already had two little boys we had decided to find out the sex of the child, purely so that if it was another boy, we wouldn't need to buy anything, and if it was a girl, we would have to start redecorating the babies room! 

When we got to the hospital all of the old memories started flooding back. I remembered being there for the first time as a twenty year old lad, feeling helpless and lost but surprisingly excited, and then of course I remembered the wonderful moment our first boy was born. 

We headed into the room to have the scan, and it was only when the nurse started preparing her equipment that I realised how much I hoped we would be having a girl. I loved my boys, but it seemed a shame to have another one! Of course we would have been delighted, but it would be nice for the boys to have a younger daughter to look after. 

Once we saw the scan, we both thought it was another boy, but it just goes to show that the medical practitioners know best! It was a girl! We were both overjoyed and headed to the nearest child care shop in town on the way home to start shopping for little dresses!
